9" (
23cm ) ( to top of the bow ) all bisque doll from Gebruder Heubach, she is
one of several in a series of all bisque character girls made both in the 7
inch and 9 inch sizes. The ones more commonly found are the so-called "
Coquette " -types with the molded hair ribbon but the one with the 3
additionally molded hair bows are the rarest and most desirable of the
series. This one though, as well as being the larger of the two sizes , also
has the seldom found SWIVEL NECK joint. This particular German patent is not
the typical socket head which sinks down into a depression on a shoulder
plate or body torso but rather a flange cut head, lower in the front than
the back, and resting and swiveling on top of a raised portion of bisque
which is part of the torso. It is known as the " Igodi " patent and is
sometimes found on dolls made by other German firms, most notably " Revalo
", and is the basis for the joining of the heads of many later American made
dolls such as the " Patsy " or " Skippy " dolls. This lovely example has
brown side glancing painted eyes, blue enameled decoration on all three hair
bows and the hair ribbon which extends all the way around the back of the
head. The fingers are uniquely modeled with the third and fourth fingers of
each hand together and the others apart. She is also jointed at the
shoulders and hips and the brown painted shoes with bow ties are
realistically modeled as are the ankle length white painted ribbed
stockings. The red and white cotton dress, printed silk apron, and antique
white undergarments are all original to the doll as well. This is one of the
rarest and most desirable of all the Heubach all bisque dolls and not to be
missed as they rarely ever come up for sale these days!SOLD

7" (
18xm ) all bisque Kestner incised " 150. 4 " with blue glass sleep eyes,
open mouth with four tiny molded upper teeth, well painted upper and lower
lashes, multistroke painted lashes, and jointed at the shoulders and hips.
She has long painted blue ribbed stockings and black painted " Maryjanes "
with one strap and wears an antique cotton gauze dress trimmed in fine lace
at the shoulders with large bib collar. The long strawberry blond mohair wig
is not as old as the doll but of fine quality and appropriately styled.
There is a chip at the top of the left leg but it appears as though it could
be a result of a burst bubble in the firing as opposed to a later damage as
there is some pink color in the depression as opposed to being white. Also,
as evident in the photos , there is a slight loss of color on the right
cheek. US$ 475.

Small ( 5 1/2", 13cm ) in stature but big on charm is this rare Gebruder
Heubach all bisque boy doll incised " 10698 4/0 " on the back of this torso.
He has a one piece head and torso with joints at the shoulder and hips. The
hands are outstretched with palms extended and the feet have molded and
painted white socks and brown shoes with a single strap, as typically found
on this Gebr. Heubach all bisque characters. Because of his huge side
glancing painted intaglio blue eyes and open/closed mouth in a surprised
elated expression he might even be considered to be at least a semi- googly.
Regardless he is a rare and great little doll and even still wears his
original one piece red crepe paper chemise. US$ 425.
