21" ( 52 cm ) Martha Chase child in near pristine condition, with molded and painted head and shoulder, arms and legs with sewn joints at elbows and knees, and sateen covered body with sewn joints at shoulders and hips. She has brown painted eyes with long painted upper eyelashes, as well as well- defined fingers with separately molded thumbs. In addition to the wonderful condition, the other outstanding feature of this doll is that she has brown painted hair as opposed to the traditional blond/yellow. The hair is thickly painted to give it texture and " comb-mark " realistic dimensions, and wispy irregular curls framing the face, forehead, and back at neckline. She wears a blue and white cotton printed dress covered by a thin blue and white lace trimmed pinafore/apron, multi-layered white cotton undergarments which are sewn securely preventing them being removed, blue cotton socks and dark blackish-blue sandal -style shoes. Other than a few minor paint flecks on back of painted hair it would appear the doll was al but new if one did not know better. A lovely example in best possible condition. .................US$ 950.

17" ( 43 cm ) Kathe Kruse boy with the "DOLL I" facial style but with slightly narrower face and overall less bulky and more slender body with heavier and darker head and facial painting allowing one to assume is a 1920's doll but from the latter half of the decade. He has a toddler -type body with wide hips and diagonal joints, as well as one piece arms and hands. The plaid cotton roper suit with waist belt and red trim is period clothing as are the socks and leather shoes impressed on the soles " made in Germany ". The original paint is overall excellent with only a tiny loss on the head seam and a few teeny specks elsewhere on the hair. There is a signature on the left foot " Kathe Kruse 991932 ".  A very nice doll with a slightly different appearance and presentation!.........................................US$ 1,500.

Beautiful 20 " (51 cm )  Kathe Kruse " Deutsche Kind " girl with narrow face with pensive look, molded and painted facial features, and wearing a light brown human hair wig with center part with braids tied on each side of the head. She has a cloth body with one piece arms and hands, a solid torso with legs attached at hips by diagonal joints, however the body on this type of doll is more slender that found on the " DOLL I" 's perhaps portraying a slightly or and mature child. She wears an original above- the- knee one piece dress with textured white cotton on top and a see-through pink organdy skirt and wide collar. The socks are white ribbed cotton and the shoes white leather .  Unfortunately she lacks undergarments, but otherwise, is a very nice doll and ready to display. ....................US$ 1,250.

Unusual 16" ( 41cm ) Lenci girl with brown painted side glancing eyes, blond mohair wig  with long curls, with pensive expression and unique costume.  She wears and orange felt skirt and paid silk scarf, but the unusual aspect is the stiff black oilcloth raingear consisting of a knee length slicker and matching galoshes and hat. In addition, sewn to the back of the skirt underneath the coat are the original square paper Lenci tag as well as a black cloth tag reading " Ars Lenci " . The face and legs are in very clean condition with only the most minor surface dust and/or fading. The coat does have one minor horizontal split in front at the bottom with  a few ragged edges at the bottom of the coat. Overall a very nice and certainly rare piece!........................................... US$ 750.

11" ( 28cm ) ( to top of pointed hat) whimsical Schuco cloth velvet and felt " yes-no " gnome whose head goes up and down as well as side to side by moving the metal mechanism hidden under the back of the trousers. He has a felt airbrushed face with white mohair beard, velvet trousers and cap, felt jacket and tops of sandals, and black metal glasses frames . In addition he has movable joints at shoulders and hips to allow for extra positioning. He is wonderfully clean with near brilliant color with little to no fading. Pinned to his jacket is a round white paper tag with brass edge reading in old pen script " 7181/28 " ( perhaps a store inventory number plus the height ?).  A cheery fellow and not found often!........................US$ 395.
