Charming 11" ( 28cm ) cloth doll with oil painted face with center seam down the middle, long hooked nose, cloth hands with separate thumb and other fingers made as one, and jointed at the shoulders and hips. His pointed red burlap type cap with black yarn tassel is sewn to the head with feather stitching and similar red boots are also sewn on with the same feather stitching with tassel shoe strings. He wears a printed cotton one piece costume which is gathered at the waist and folded over , along with a large lacy ruffled collar. He originally came with two larger Punch and Judy-like dolls ( which unfortunately we were not able to buy ) so I refer to him as " Baby Punch " or " Punch Junior " . Although the maker is unknown, he is a delightful character and extremely well made with great appeal and something different for the collector of cloth dolls. US$ 650.

22" ( 55cm ) Sheppard doll , or so-called " Philadelphia Baby " with painted oilcloth head and face, as well as the lower arms and lower legs with bare feet, all in very good all original condition with no found repaint with just minor wear typical of this type of doll. She is jointed at the shoulder, hips, and knees with a stockinet covered cloth body. She has well modeled facial features with separate upper eyelid, well defined lips, and huge brown saucer-like eyes. Appropriately dressed in a 1910 era white cotton young child's dress and undergarments, a white crocheted bonnet with strawberry crocheted trim and lace borders, and old black and white leather children's shoes, she is both primitive yet charming! Although not technically " mint ", she is in excellent condition for her type and age and certainly in much better condition than those normally found. US$ 3,800.
