Lovely 14 3/4" ( 37cm ) Jumeau child incised " DEPOSE E 6 J " , on the head , and stamped in blue on the torso " JUMEAU MEDAILLE D'OR PARIS " . This classic " EJ " bebe has stunning blue paperweight eyes, pierced ears, finely painted lashes, thick evenly arched painted eyebrows, closed mouth with highlighted lower lip painting and typical " bee stung " upper lip highlights. The straight wrist body is in excellent condition and has separate ball joints as well at the elbows and hips. She is wearing an antique long blond mohair wig with bangs over a cork pate, and has been elaborately costumed in a lavish pleated gold silk brocade dress with wide collar with lace trim ,as well as a fancy bonnet to match the basic colors of the dress. In addition she wears long white cotton stockings and very nice antique brown leather shoes with rosettes, impressed " 6 " on the soles. She has a small inner rim chip repair at the top of the head which was done to avoid any further damage since otherwise the bisque would have been dangerously thin at this area so she is being offered accordingly at a reasonable............................................ This 30" ( 76cm ) Belgian bisque shoulder head doll must be the earliest and ultimate of bed dolls! She is incised " F 1 " and is from the firm of De Fuisseaux, circa WWI. She has a bald head with painted features with long aquiline nose, dramatic shading around her expressive pale blue eyes, and a long swan-like neck exhibiting indentations and neck muscles. She is on a long cloth body, jointed at the hips and shoulders, with unique chalky composite slender arms and legs with great detail paid to finger modeling and nail painting as well as feet with molded gold high heel shoes. Even though the head and extremities are made from different materials, the colors match perfectly proving the parts were made to be assembled as a complete unit as opposed to being " put together " at a later time. She wears a contemporary cotton print dress and period wide brimmed felt trimmed hat. She also comes with two wigs: one is the original long honey human hair wig; the other is a replacement brown human hair bobbed wig. Depending on which is worn, she can be a teenager, or a more rebellious " flapper ". De Fuisseaux made dolls in the same era as dolls made from the designs of Albert Marque, Van Rozen, the characters from the " Poulbot " drawings, the " Pandora " dolls, and all were considered to be a part of the French/Belgian art doll movement near the end of WWI, attempting to create a unique style radically different from dolls produced prior to the war. We have had dolls from this firm before but never so large, nor so originally complete! US$ 3,250.

Charming cabinet size ( 14" , 36cm ) closed mouth bebe, with the head incised " FIGURE C No. 0 STEINER Bte. S.G.D.G. " on the original fully jointed straight wrist body stamped in black on the torso " J. St. " with the " Doctor's Mark ", in excellent condition with original finish. She has piercing blue paperweight eyes , well painted lashes and brows, mauve shading on the upper eyelids, and a well defined, slightly smiling mouth. She has the two " cut outs " in the back of the head to allow for the wire eyed mechanism, but they obviously decided not to use this as the paperweight eyes are definitely original to the doll. She has a wonderful original lambs wool wig over the original purple cardboard Steiner pate ( also impressed " 0 " ), and is well costumed in a cream and pink silk French style frock with silk ribbon bow and lace trim, a beautiful antique silk and ecru lace bonnet, antique undergarments, and newer brown leather French style boots.
