18 1/2" ( 47cm ) doll with head incised " S.F.B.J 251 Paris 10 " with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, open mouth with two upper teeth, separately molded retractable tongue, on the original French fully jointed toddler body with diagonal hip joints, in very good original condition with just minor typical wear at joints and a few fingertips. She wears an antique dark mohair wig with center part and loads of long curls, an antique pale yellow and white dress with wide lace collar , braid trim below the waist with tulips , all buttoning in the back. In addition she has a lovely cream silk and lace bonnet and newer pink socks and white leather boots. Considering the general quality of the bisque on S.F.B.J dolls, the painting on this doll is relatively pale with nice shading and smooth bisque. This model is known as the open mouth version of the "Twirp ", and the S.F.B.J 247 is the same face with an open/closed mouth which sells for considerably more money. US$ 1,350.
