21 1/2 (55cm )well modeled doll from Simon & Halbig from before the so-called " character doll "era of 1910-1914, but with much more expression than the typical " dolly face " garden variety of her period, with head incised " S&H 1279 DEP Germany 11 1/2", made by Simon & Halbig as a special order for the C.M. Bergmann Company and marketed in it's day as " Baby Cinderella ". This smiling doll with deep dimples has large blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower eyelashes, short thick " winged flyaway " eyebrows which are highly enameled on top. She has an open mouth with four upper teeth , and is on the original fully jointed wood and composition body with original finish other than perhaps some paint touchup on the hands. The costume consists of a one piece highly starched floral print cotton dress with old lace collar and yellow ribbon corsages sewn to the bottom of the collar, antique pale blue leather shoes, old underclothes and socks, and a beautiful full antique blond mohair wig with side part. She is in overall very good condition but with a few typical wig pulls near the top of the head and on the rim. US$ 2,250.

Unusual 15" ( 38cm ) dark brown bisque " Belton "-style doll with closed mouth, solid flat dome head with two stringing holes allowing attachment to the body, insert dark brown paperweight eyes, multistroke " winged " eyebrows, pierced ears, and incised on the back of the head " 344 ", widely attributed to the firm of BAEHR and PROESCHILD. She is on her original five piece composition body with straight wrists with original painted finish the well matches the color of the bisque head . Other than a little typical wear on a few fingers it is in overall very good condition. In addition to being a fairly rare doll, perhaps the outstanding feature of the doll is her elaborate factory made costume consisting of pleated gold silk harem style pants covered by an apron of fine dark lace with glass beads with a headdress of similar material covering the original black mohair wig. The blouse is made of a slightly paler yellowy-gold muslin material edged in fancy gold braid trim. The shoes are uniquely designed of gold silk with pointed upturned toes and bead trim similar to that found on the main costume. We are assuming she was dressed to represent a Turkish woman or at least a nearby mid-Eastern region. A lovely factory dressed doll!! US$ 1,650.

21" ( 54cm ) early Simon & Halbig with head incised " S&H 719 DEP " with blue glass sleep eyes, heavy feathered eyebrows, painted upper and lower lashes, and an open mouth with four molded upper teeth. This pretty doll has the hint of a smile and is on her original early heavy wood and composition body with straight wrists and had fine original paint finish. This doll head can also be found occasionally on the " Edison Phonograph Doll " but the cost is essentially doubled when located on that body. She wears a beautiful antique brown mohair wig covered by a white lace bonnet, a pink and white pleated gingham dress, antique underwear and newer cotton socks and fine quality later brown leather shoes. US$ 1,950.

Chubby 19" ( 48cm ) German bisque head toddler with unusual and rarely found mold number "2095 " and also incised with a " BSW" ( within a heart logo ) indicating it was the from the firm of Bruno Schmidt. She has an open mouth with a slight smile and two upper teeth, and brown glass sleep eyes that also " flirt " from side to side as well. The eyebrows are of the so-called " fly-away " multistroke style and she has both upper and lower painted lashes. The toddler body is amazing as it is extremely fat, is in near pristine condition with original patina, and has the typical diagonal hip joints. The circumference of the head and the overall girth of the body make the doll appear at first glance that she is a much bigger doll than a doll of her height would suggest. The clothing, which is a cotton print art deco design with red feather stitching, and her well coordinated red cotton stockings and black oilcloth shoes with white yarn pompoms appears contemporary to the doll and are more than likely original as appears the nice antique brown mohair wig tied into two braids on each side and secured by red silk ribbon bows. US$ 1,450.
