Rare and desirable 17 3/4'' ( 45 cm ) Simon and Halbig German character with head incised " S&H 151  7 " having all molded and painted facial features with blue eyes glancing ever so slightly to her right, an open/closed smiling mouth with four upper teeth, well modeled chin and deep dimples in the cheeks as well as around the mouth ( a few light typical wig pulls as found on the majority of painted eyed characters ), mounted to a fully jointed good quality German wood and composition body with excellent original patina and stamped in red on front left torso " HEINRICH HANDWERCK Germany ". The dark blond/pale brown mohair wig is not only original but features a center part with elaborately long coiled braids wrapped around and affixed in an upswept firm position, held together tightly by a thin hair net. The ankle- length printed cotton magenta dress has a unique applied short collar in front center and similar trim applied to edge of sleeves. Undergarments are antique cotton, with antique finely knit red cotton socks and antique red cloth shoes with brass buckles rounding out her wardrobe, all old and probably original. This doll was recently purchased from a collector who held her for about the last thirty years, and she had purchased directly from the family of the original owner in New England. Slightly larger model than those normally found, most likely all original, in excellent condition, and provided with a provenance!...........................................US$ 4,350.

Lovely all original cabinet size ( 15", 38 cm ) model with head incised " 1358 Germany SIMON & HALBIG  S&H  4 "  having brown glass sleep eyes , well painted " feathered " eyebrows and tiny lashes, an open mouth with four separate upper teeth, coral/red painted mouth with fired-in color, pierced earlobes, with fine even facial painting/coloring. As is often typical with black bisque dolls there are a few minor wig pulls but totally covered by the wig when in proper position. The wig is black mohair with upswept style with a short braid in back; the body is in excellent condition and is fully jointed wood and composition, and the elaborate multi-layer costume consisting of a red linen dress with cotton print apron and matching collar, wonderful striped linen underskirt, old black oilcloth shoes and red socks , and a lacey bonnet complete a well coordinated outfit. The 1358 is a coveted doll and rightfully so and this is a prime example in overall very good condition with much appeal............US$ 3,450.

HUGE 32" ( 81cm ) character, perhaps the largest model we have seen of this mold, with head incised " 1488 Simon & Halbig 15 ", with blue glass sleep eyes, an open/closed mouth with wide space between the lips but no molded teeth, on a near mint German wood and composition body which is fully articulated. She wears a wonderful bobbed but very curly antique light brown mohair wig, a very nice antique silk cotton and lace dress with silk ribbon insertions, old undergarments, socks, and white leather shoes, as well as a peachy and turquoise silk cloche bonnet with floral silk florettes. The bisque quality is also especially nice with even facial coloring, well painted eyebrows and upper and lower lashes. Considering the rarity of this doll in this impressive size, she is quite a bargain at.........US$ 3,950.

Whimsical boy known as " Whistling Jim " having a bisque head with flange neck, molded and painted hair and facial features with blue intaglio eyes, a mouth with pursed lips with slight opening in center, and mounted to a cloth torso with cloth legs joined at hips diagonally like found on a toddler body, and cloth arms jointed at the shoulders with composition forearms. There is a bellows hidden in the belly of the torso and when pressed it makes a distinct whistling sound, hence the name. He has a period one piece cotton outfit, white cotton socks and antique white paper shoes. and comes with an addition brass whistle in the event he becomes fatigued. This example is a much larger ( 13' , 33cm ) than normally found and his head is incised on the back of the neck " 4 HEUBACH ( in a square )". Great doll/toy of good quality in rare larger size!.......US$ 850.

Very nice and unusually large ( 23, 58 cm ) Kammer and Reinhardt character toddler known to many collectors as Philip , with head incised in back SIMON & HALBIG  K*&R 115/A  60 and having brown glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes as well as some remnants of the silk uppers, a closed mouth with pouty expression, full cheeks and even facial painting, mounted to the original fully jointed wood and composition toddler body with diagonal hip joints. The body finish is mostly original but with some good paint touchup to the hands. He is well dressed in an old white ribbed cotton shirt with unusual old cobalt blue and gold buttons, a well fitted old jacket also made of fine ribbed black cotton, navy blue cotton trousers, old brown and white leather shoes, an antique blond mohair bobbed wig, and an old wide brimmed straw hat with brown silk ribbon and a few tiny cloth flowers. Overall a very good quality desirable doll and very modestly priced at US$ 2,975.
