4" ( 36cm ) Lenci " Lucia " in regional costume in a Dutch-like type costume but also could be to represent one of the northern Italian provinces such as the Sud Tyrol / Alto Adige region as some of the costumes have remotely similar characteristics and the doll is not wearing the typical wooden shoes worn by the Dutch in their typical regional garb. She has brilliant facial color, clean blond mohair wig, starched white organdy cap with large chartreuse bow tied in back as well as a white organdy apron, also tied in back with a similar bow, a highly starched black and white polk dot taffeta dress with appliqued felt flowers, black felt shoes , and crispy white undergarments with pantaloons. To the back of the skirt are sewn two original Lenci identifying tags- one a square paper tag reading " Bambola Italiana, LENCI, TORINO, Made in Italy , ( also written by hand in pencil ' Lucy 36 ' ) ", and a black cloth tag " Ars Lenci, Made in Italy- New York, Paris London ". SOLD.

14" ( 35cm ) Lenci child from the early 1930's with the " Lucia " face in her elaborate colorful ethnic costume representing one of the southern provinces of Italy. The only identifying feature is a smudged stamp on the bottom of her right foot, but she has the zigzag stitching on the back of her neck as well as the second and third fingers stitched together on both hands. She has brown painted side glancing eyes, a black mohair wig with center part drawn into two tight braids wrapping around and covering both ears. The costume consists of a purple felt skirt with horizontal fuchsia band at the bottom of the skirt with two more narrow bands on each side, one yellow and one pale green. The same green is used for the long sleeve blouse which is edged in yellow with crisscrossed green ties which is covered by a white organdy shawl. There is an apron of the identical organdy tied around her waist, and she also wears a bead necklace and brass hoop earrings. The undergarments consist of white linen pantaloons and half slip, both edged in fuchsia felt. The socks are white cotton and the shoes are one piece black felt slippers. The overall condition is very good with good coloring on the face with just some minor typical surface dust and a few miniscule moth holes on the clothing. US$ 695.
