Highly desirable and rarely found Lenci girl, perhaps a young teenager, with rectangular paper tag ( detached ) reading " Lenci Di E. Scavini, Turin ( Italy ) made in Italy 400F Pat. Sept. 8- 1921 Pat.N. 142433 Bte. S.G.D.G. X 87395- BREVETTO 501-178". Her brown painted eyes look to the left and she has well detailed painted lashes and eye makeup. The girl has a serious pensive expression . Her light brown mohair wig has a center part with two long sausage curls draping to her shoulder and is braided in back and tied with a huge blue felt bow which matches the blue in the dress and her pantaloons. The dress is one piece with a double scalloped white felt collar, blue upper section with gathered sleeves, and a short plaid high waisted lower section with individually cut and sewn panels of orange and pumpkin felt. The shoes and ankle length white crocheted socks are original as well. The overall condition is very good to excellent with only the slightest typical surface dust and fading. SOLD

14" ( 35cm ) Lenci child from the early 1930's with the " Lucia " face in her elaborate colorful ethnic costume representing one of the southern provinces of Italy. The only identifying feature is a smudged stamp on the bottom of her right foot, but she has the zigzag stitching on the back of her neck as well as the second and third fingers stitched together on both hands. She has brown painted side glancing eyes, a black mohair wig with center part drawn into two tight braids wrapping around and covering both ears. The costume consists of a purple felt skirt with horizontal fuchsia band at the bottom of the skirt with two more narrow bands on each side, one yellow and one pale green. The same green is used for the long sleeve blouse which is edged in yellow with crisscrossed green ties which is covered by a white organdy shawl. There is an apron of the identical organdy tied around her waist, and she also wears a bead necklace and brass hoop earrings. The undergarments consist of white linen pantaloons and half slip, both edged in fuchsia felt. The socks are white cotton and the shoes are one piece black felt slippers. The overall condition is very good with good coloring on the face with just some minor typical surface dust and a few miniscule moth holes on the clothing. US$ 595.

9" (23cm) Lenci " mascot " with two tags, one circular made of silver foil reading " Lenci TORINO Made in Italy" and the other a heart shaped paper tag with a painted tulip reading " Lazio " ( the region surrounding Rome ). Her elaborate multilayer region costume is a felt with the exception of the muslin blouse. The large brass hoop earrings are still intact, and the soles and rear part of the sandals are real caramel colored leather. Condition is very good with vibrant bright felt colors, with only a little typical surface dust and a bit of moth damage to the surface on the back of the right hand. US$ 225.
