22" ( 55cm ) Sheppard doll , or
so-called " Philadelphia Baby " with painted oilcloth head and face, as well
as the lower arms and lower legs with bare feet, all in very good all
original condition with no found repaint with just minor wear typical of
this type of doll. She is jointed at the shoulder, hips, and knees with a
stockinet covered cloth body. She has well modeled facial features with
separate upper eyelid, well defined lips, and huge brown saucer-like eyes.
Appropriately dressed in a 1910 era white cotton young child's dress and
undergarments, a white crocheted bonnet with strawberry crocheted trim and
lace borders, and old black and white leather children's shoes, she is both
primitive yet charming! Although not technically " mint ", she is in
excellent condition for her type and age and certainly in much better
condition than those normally found.
US$ 4,100.

14" ( 35cm ) American black cloth
folk art doll with finely stitched facial features dressed in a white linen
nurses uniform with matching cap. She has some moth damage to the shoes and
some stains to the clothing , but these dolls are right out of an old
Southern USA doll collection and we have not attempted to clean or restore
them in any way so as not to compromise their integrity for those who wish
them to be left alone; however, should the buyer wish to clean or restore
them, this could be easily be done by those who have some sewing and
restoration skills. US$

16" ( 41cm ) silk face black cloth
doll with finely stitched facial features made into a tea cozy, most likely
dating from the early 1920's. She wears a printed cotton dress over quilted
flannel to allow the tea ( to be kept warm while waiting to be served) . She
has a sewn on plaid bandana, attached brass hoop earrings, and a cotton
gauze apron ( some deterioration ) with pocket, all outlined in pale orange
ribbon trim. Around her neck is a tiny bead necklace to simulate pearls.
This is a unique lovely piece and functional as well as decorative.
